Help My Aunt Nancy Sell Her Crap! :)

Well, it's not really Crap - I just thought that would get your attention - LOL!

I'm helping my Aunt Nancy clear out a bunch of her collectibles and stuff, so check them out!

I'm in the process of listing over 50 Vintage PRECIOUS MOMENTS collectible figurines, ornaments and plates on Ebay, which you can find by going to http://myworld.ebay.com/mikenmelody92   Scroll down the left and click on Items for Sale.  I have them for sale as an entire collection on www.atascocita.com in the Classifieds, and will have them listed at kingwoodyardsales.com also.  They're easily worth over $750.00, but she's selling them for $400.00 or best offer.

She's got a set of Noritake Stoneware dishes, Sierra Twilight pattern, for sale also. 8 dinner plates, 8 salad plates, 8 cups, and 8 bowls. They come with 5 smoke colored glass stemmed wine glasses and 5 stemmed water glasses.  These retailed for well over $600.00 all together, and she's asking $250.00 OBO.  These are listed on atascocita.com and will be listed on kingwoodyardsales.com also.  The only flaws that I can find:  One dinner plate has a small chip underneath it, and one of the bowls has a larger chip on the side.  These are easily replaced at a site such as replacementsltd.com or some other such site. But they still look great & have tons of life left in them if you don't care to replace those 2 pieces.

Plus, she's selling a Singer Stylist 834 Sewing Machine for $25.00 OBO, as well as a stereo system for $50.00 OBO. The stereo system includes JVC cassette player, Hartman/Karman FL 8300 CD Player, Yamaha Stereo Receiver RX-496 and Infinity speakers.

Send me a message if you need more info. and photos!  I thank you, and Aunt Nancy thanks you too!

Cute Decorating Ideas

Get the Look Decor: An Eclectic Renovation

Iheartmoustaches
This weekend’s Get the Look Decor is inspired by Kate and Ed’s incredible budget-friendly renovation. Their Edwardian terrace home in Ely (near Cambridge in the U.K.) was in desperate need of repair, and the couple was forced to make some quick and clever decorating decisions on a shoestring budget. They created a home filled with character and charm using second hand items, wall paint rescued from a car boot sale, and vintage deals found at auctions and charity shops. The results are nothing short of amazing, filled with cheerful colors and unexpected decorating ideas.
Check out Kate’s blog for inspiring before and after photos of her home renovation, and visit her Etsy shop, Goodnight Prudence, for vintage items for you and your home.
Describe your home decorating style.
Eclectic and colourful. I don’t really do minimalism (quite the opposite!) and like to be surrounded by lots of inspiring patterns and objects. I think our home is a mixture of styles: 1970s bohemian meets English country cottage. I try to strike a balance somewhere between granny and contemporary.

Did you decide to decorate in this style or was there an evolution to your decorating process?
Until we bought this house 8 months ago, we were in a rented flat, so our decorating options were very limited. I think we had been dreaming of how we would decorate our own house for a long time. We definitely had a vision of how the house would look, and I think we have achieved it. Having said that, the house was in a terribly run-down state when we got the keys. We had to do the whole place up at once in order to be able to live there, so a lot of decisions were made very quickly. Budget definitely had an impact, but I think a positive one, as it meant we didn’t always go for the obvious option. For example, we couldn’t afford a new fitted kitchen. Instead, we opted for a free-standing antique dresser base and open shelving, which was so much cheaper and I think creates a much warmer, homey look. We also got a lot of paint for free, as my boyfriend works for a music venue and swapped some Hayseed Dixie tickets for a car boot full of rejected paint tins. Some of the colours were picked out totally by chance!

What inspires you when it comes to decorating?
The décor in old films and TV series. One thing I had in mind when decorating our home was Tom and Barbara’s house in the 1970s sitcom “The Good Life!” I also buy old magazines and cut out good ideas. Inspiration can be found all over the place; the trick is to pick out the individual elements that appeal to you and mix it up in a way that works for your home. I take photos wherever I go and am also a bit of a sucker for looking in other people’s windows!

Where are your favorite places to shop for home items?
Auctions, antique markets, charity shops and car boot sales. Because I sell vintage items, I spend a huge amount of time trawling round these places, and the vast majority of items in our home were second hand. I think it is important to be environmentally aware and do not believe in buying everything new, especially as many antique and vintage items are much better quality as well as being more unique.
What is your favorite part about your home?
I love the living room. The green colour on the walls is really inviting and relaxing, plus it has all of our books and knickknacks, loads of pictures and colourful blankets, cushions and lots of houseplants. All these aspects make it feel really cosy and uniquely our own. It is a great place to chill out with a bottle of wine (or two).

Does your home hold any strong memories?
We have only been here 8 months, so we have not had long to build many memories yet, but I know we will never forget the 3 months we spent decorating when we first moved in. We were sleeping on a futon in the spare room and had no kitchen or bathroom for much of the time. We were running back and forth to Ed’s sister’s house to wash and eat. Day after day was spent tirelessly scrubbing nicotine stains from the walls and windows, ripping up carpets, sanding the floors and painting. The smell of bleach and nicotine will stay with me forever! Also, although the house is fairly new to us, it does hold a lot of memories. So many of our things were inherited from friends and family, like the G-Plan sideboard that belonged to Ed’s grandma, and all of our enamel kitchenware, which belonged to my Nanna. We are surrounded by memories all the time; everything in our home is so personal to us.

I Love Vintage!

Get the Look Decor: Pieces of the Past

Iheartmoustaches
This weekend’s Get the Look Decor is inspired by the Tennessee home of Kari Beth where she lives with her husband and family dog, Maggie. Kari Beth and her husband built their home from the ground up in the rolling country hills just north of Nashville where Kari Beth spent her childhood. Her family’s history blends beautifully with Kari Beth’s taste for antique furnishings and she enjoys how each and  every piece in her home tells a story of the past.
Check out Kari Beth’s home on Flickr or visit her blog for more creative decorating inspiration. Stop by her Etsy shop KariBethfor one-of-a-kind jewelry made from reconstructed vintage accessories.
Briefly describe your home decorating style.
My home is a layered collage of whimsical vintage and antique flea market finds. I don’t really have any rules. If a vintage item piques my interest, I will usually snatch it up without knowing where it’s going to be showcased. But, each piece seems to find the perfect place, where it looks like it was meant to be! After all, an antique paint-chipped outdoor glider made its way into my living room as a sofa, and a vintage rusted and paint-splattered ladder stands in as a side table.

Did you decide to decorate in this style or was there an evolution to your decorating process?
Even as a child, decorating my space was something that meant a lot to me. I haven’t always been drawn to vintage, but after years of flea marketing on the weekends with my family, vintage things became more and more meaningful. Today, my home is decorated with the vintage finds that I have collected and continue to collect from flea markets, antique malls, estate sales, and the like! Things are often switched and swapped throughout my house as my collection grows larger, and I love it!

What inspires you when it comes to decorating?I’m inspired most by the antique pieces that I fall in love with and have no idea how they will fit into the decor of my home. It’s those pieces that inspire me most to really think outside the box and push the boundaries of using traditional things in a non-traditional way.

What is your favorite part about your home?
I love that my home is filled with history, but comforting and not stuffy like a museum. The items in my home each have a history, and it’s interesting to think of the who/what/when/where/why of their past.

Does your home hold any strong memories?
The land that my home is built on is the land that I grew up on as part of my family’s farm. The house was built by my family’s hands, including my husband and me. We have the memory of the process from start to finish, laying the foundation to tiling the roof. It’s also the home that my husband and I had our first family dog, Mister. She lived an incredible life, and now she’s buried in front of the barn in which she loved to hunt and explore. It’s the same barn that inspires me as I look out my studio window every day. I’m sure that there will be many, many more memories to come!
